What's that one thing you always have in the kitchen? Onions I believe. Try this lip smacking onion chutney recipe that will go perfectly well with Idlis and dosas.

Ingredients:
- 5 Medium sized onions finely chopped
- 4 - 5 Dried red chillis (Bedikkaai variety)
- Tamarind small goose berry sized
- 1/4 tsp Asafoetida
- 5 -6 Curry leaves
- 1 tsp Uluntham paruppu/ urad dal
- 1 cup Water
- 4 tbsp Oil
- 1/4 tsp Mustard seeds
- Rock salt as per taste
Method:
- Run the onions, chillis, tamarind and salt in a blender until smooth.
- Heat oil in a pan, add the mustard seeds and wait till it splutters.
- Then add uluntham paruppu/ urad dal, curry leaves and asafoetida.
- Now mix in the onion paste and saute well.
- Pour in the water and mix well. Allow this to simmer.
- Stir it occasionally. Takes about 20 minutes to cook.
