Kids Special - Carrot Chapathi

Now that school has started, I'm sure all parents are going crazy to figure out what nutritious lunch to pack for their kids.

The thought of my niece was the inspiration to make this carrot chapathi to satisfy the taste buds of the little one and soothe her sweet tooth. My niece sings 'Hot Hot Chapathis!' every time this comes on her plate. Hope to spread the same joy to your kids!

CARROT CHAPATHI

Ingredients:

  • 4 cups wheat flour
  • 4 cups grated carrot
  • 1/2 tsp salt or as needed
  • Warm water
  • Oil/ Ghee
Method:

  • Mix the wheat flour, carrot and salt together.
  • Now pour warm water little by little and knead to soft dough. Set aside for half an hour.
  • Make sure you cover it with muslin cloth or a lid to retain the moisture.
  • Now make small balls out of the kneaded dough.
  • Roll each ball with a rolling pin. If you can make it look like circles :)
  • Heat the tawa, coat with little oil. Place each rolled out dough onto the tawa.
  • Once it bubbles up, turn over. Allow it to cook. Note the tawa/pan should be on medium flame - this is the key to perfect chapathis.
  • Toss it into a hot pack and coat with ghee/oil if you'd like. For bonus, you can pack some cheese with it. Yum!
