I have been getting requests to post some recipes for kids and considering I have a little one at home, who strangely runs from the face of macaroni actually liked a whole bowl of this preparation and immediately thought of sharing this. We as a family are not big fans of cheese, but i definitely would recommend cheese if you love it. it makes a perfect weekend snack or dinner.
Ingredients:
Method:
Fennelly Macaroni |
Ingredients:
- 1 tbsp of fennels seeds
- 1 small tomato
- 1/2 an onion
- 4 garlic cloves
- 1 tbsp of olive oil
- 1 tbsp of tomato ketchup
- 1/2 tbsp of dark soya sauce
- 2 tbsp of fresh coriander leaves
- 1 cup of macaroni
- salt as per taste
- pepper
- grated parmesan cheese (optional)
Method:
- Heat water in a deep pan, boil the macaroni with salt and little oil. Takes about 15 - 20 mins.
- Strain and run cold water and add a little oil to coat the macaroni. This is done so the macaronis don't stick or get gooey.
- Grind tomato, onion, garlic, fennel seeds to a smooth paste.
- Heat olive oil in a pan, saute the smooth paste for 10 minutes on low heat.
- Now add the ketchup, soya sauce, salt and pepper.
- Toss in the macaroni, you could let your children to this! They will love it when if flows into the pan :), ofcourse cautiously.
- Stir it all up gently. Add the parmesan cheese and coriander.
- Serve it quick while it's still hot in the pot! Enjoy it slowly bite by bite.
