Method:
NAATU KOZHI CURRY |
Ingredients:
- 1/2 kg chicken (country chicken)
- 2 chopped tomatoes
- 2 chopped onions
- 1 tsp ginger-garlic paste
- 1/4 tsp of fennel seeds/ sombu
- 1/4 tsp mustard seeds
- 1 twig of cinnamon
- 1-2 cloves
- 5-6 curry leaves
- 3 cups of water
- 1 tbsp of coriander
- 1 tsp pepper powder
- 1 tsp chicken masala
- 1/2 tsp coriander powder
- 1/2 tsp chilli powder
- 1 tsp salt
- pinch of turmeric
- 5 tbsp oil
Method:
- Grind tomatoes to a fine paste along with fennel seeds.
- Heat oil in a deep pan. Add the mustard seeds, cinnamon, cloves and onions. Saute well till soft and transparent.
- Pop in the curry leaves and tomato paste. Add ginger-garlic paste and mix.
- Allow to simmer for 10 minutes or till the oil releases to the sides of the pan.
- Add the chicken and saute for a few minutes. You will see the meat change colour, then pour 3 cups of water.
- Season with all remaining dry ingredients mentioned in the list and give a gentle stir. Pop a lid and allow to cook on medium flame.
- It is ready once you see the gravy thicken. Check if it needs more salt, add accordingly.
- Garnish with coriander before serving with rice, kali, idli or dosai.
